Gary Cooper didn't actually come to our neighborhood meeting about the proposed freeway corridors, but turnout was great--standing room only. I think the ADOT representatives were surprised. In addition to petitions which were circulated, a utility bin was filled with comment cards, and an estimated 500 additional questions/objections were submitted in writing to be included in the study. Two valley news crews were there to document the thing. One of our ward members is his neighborhood's HOA president and was a key speaker. He has started a website devoted to the issue and organized a press release that he then sent to every news agency in the valley. Apparently we're about two years from an actual corridor selection.
We're proud of our own part in the effort. I made a flyer and had 700 copies printed. Erin orchestrated the distribution, with several other families helping in other neighborhoods. She spent an hour yesterday taping them to mailboxes (they're clustered here) all over the area. We spent an hour in our own neighborhood last night delivering flyers to homes. Our kids were great little activists. They worked again today in the heat to deliver the remaining flyers with Erin. Anyway, we feel satisfied that--for now, at least--we've done everything we can do. We're due for some down time tomorrow!

Way to go Gary Cooper on them, Derek! It appears you gave them both barrells! Now be sure to reload and finish them....don't leave them wounded! :)
Great! The earliest volley is the best (when aimed right) because the opposition isn't dug in and set for it yet. Good job kids!
