Nature's Bounty
Anyone looked outside lately...as in since it got dark? Right now the moon is truely gorgeous and our sky is clear. The air is cooler (Sorry, Ami.) and we have the windows open with the attic fan on to pull it through the house. Our tiny patch of luxurious new grass is nearly white with fallen orange blossoms from the bush by the back door which caused Logan to ask, "Gramma, do you have a popcorn tree?" It smells nice, too. While we were eating today, we had quite a show of birds in the same bush (it has a bird feeder in it) with cardinals, jays, finches even a small bright yellow-orange oreole kind of bird. All of sudden two pairs of bluebirds flew into view. The bright blue males were squabbling and so were the two females. All of a sudden it turned into a real brawl with two sets of locked beaks and feathered wings tumbling over and over on and around the picnic table. Sharlin walked out to see better and they never even noticed she was only about 6 feet away. They finally broke it up and flew off when she coughed. So much for the bluebird symbol of happiness. Even they have their moments of discord. Wonder what the "rest of that story" is. April and Jeremy reported after their walk that the birds are still in the mailbox down the street and they saw a rabbit along the way. Took the gray cat, Misty, in for shots this week and found out that we have had her since June 1995! If the 7 year thing is right for cats she is about 90 years old! She is not acting like an old cat. She stills scrambles up the closest tree when threatened by foreign cats or dogs but she does spend more time soaking up the sunshine and wants to be in the garage every night as soon as it gets dark. Vet gave her a clean bill of health. Going for a walk with the guy who lives here. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Love you all. Mom/Gramma/Nancy
