Frog update

Okay-its a little gross, so beware. We took Firebellie to the vet today. He has had these bubble-like things above his eyes-where the "frog bumps" are. He's also been listless and had a loss of appetite. The doc took a culture from his wounds and said he has a bacterial infection. The cause is the gross part. We buy small crickets for him at the pet store, but apparently some are not small enough so he won't eat them. When he soaks in his water only his eyes stick out. The large crickets, sensing a predator, go on the offensive and eat his skin! Since only his eyes were exposed that's where the sores occured. Then his sores got infected. Poor guy. He's been in pain and we're feeding him the very thing that's hurt him! We have to give him an antibiotic in his water each day for the next 14 days and make sure he has teeny tiny crickets. Can you imagine your own food attacking you? And yes, it was worth the trip to the vet because these guys can live up to 15 years!

The same thing happens if snakes are fed rats or mice and they don't eat them...
Glad you're enjoying your little buddy, Caleb!
