We're relaxing for the night at Day's Inn in Vandalia, Illinois (approximately 190 miles from Indianapolis).
We were on the road by 6:10 this morning, believe it or don't. We got everyone up at 5, finished packing and ate a pre-packed breakfast on the road. Again, the boys were pretty cooperative and we made it to St.Louis by 1 this afternoon. As a result, we were able to enjoy the zoo until closing time (7 pm). We got some nice video/pics at the zoo that we will share at a later date.
We are currently excited to be bedding down in the best kept Day's Inn Shar has ever stayed in (she wanted me to make sure I said that) and are looking forward to our Continental Breakfast.
But, you know what the best part is? The price: less than $60!

The room is newly renovated and super clean with four pillows per bed. Whoever the housekeeper is definitely put in 110% and who would have thought this for a Days Inn.

My personal favorite at the Zoo was definitely the penguin house. They had your typical Adelie's outside (just like at Tulsa), but you stepped inside and thought you'd gone to the arctic! Wow! FRIGID! I got video of King, Macaroni, Rockhoppers, etc. Puffins were in there too.
We have video of Shar talking to a bird--and he talked right back, too!
Ian's favorites were the elephants and turtles (anyone truly surprised?). Logan liked the penguins as well, AJ liked the Giant Anteater, the Sun bears and the Dwarf Mongoose. Phelan liked the Polar Bear.

Your welcome, Brenda (for the new post). Yes, we are on 'vacation again'. This one was planned a while ago while the first one became a necessity and was made possible by that wonderful stimulus package. We did our part to stimulate the economy! Actually, I guess we're doing it again.....
Good for you. Our stimulus check must have gotten lost in the mail or something.
