San Diego--almost finished

Day 4 (Thursday, 6/25): Thursday was a do-over day. We told the kids we'd take the day to repeat their favorite activities from the week. After breakfast at the hotel, we returned to Silver Strand State Beach to spend the morning playing in the surf, building sand castles, and collecting shells. For lunch, Erin and I grabbed Subway and took the kids to Carl's Jr. We spent the afternoon back at Cabrillo Nat'l Monument (visitors center and tidepools). Then we drove to the Little Italy district downtown for dinner at Filippi's Pizza Grotto where we've eaten once before. You walk through the narrow aisles of an authentic mom-and-pop-style Italian grocery to the family-owned and operated restaurant in the back. Prices are reasonable and the pizza was even better than we remembered. We had enough leftovers to take care of lunch on the way home the next day. We finished the evening back at Sea Port Village, seeing the places we hadn't and revisiting favorites from before. The Wyland Gallery with its marine life art was my favorite. Erin & I found tiki masks at another shop as an anniversary gift to ourselves. We haven't worn them, yet.

This has been a fantastic report of your amazing trip! How can one family get to see and do and eat so many different things in such a few days??!! Utterly stupendous! How will Oklahoma and our backyard EVER hold up to be even slightly so wonderful? THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT PHOTOS! An outstanding recap of an outstanding family summer vacation. You must have had the best tour guide in town!
