Ami,
How's this for a finish... The love of your eternal life was stuck in the same traffic you encountered in Springdale when his friend's car overheated. He's too kind to say "I told you so." (His friend insisted on driving because his car was more "low-key" and wouldn't attract the interest of superficial, shallow types. Your LOEL said they should take his luxury sportscar because it was more dependable and fuel effcient and has plenty of cup holders for his favorite--caffeine free Diet Coke.)
He manages to capture a fleeting image of your radiance (curly hair and all) on his cell phone as your car darts away through an untimely break in the traffic snarl. When the needed parts for his friend's car are unavailable, he makes the repairs himself using duct tape and parts he fashions by hand from scrap metal. By the time they arrive in Fayetteville, the luau has ended--he's missed you again. But he salvages a ukalele someone threw in the trash and records a ballad (titled "Hey There, Gorgeous Mystery Girl") in your honor that quickly climbs the charts in the U.S., Great Britain, and Luxemburg. He donates the proceeds to charity and launches an all-out search of every village and hamlet within a tank of gas of Arkansas.
He shows your image to everyone and asks them two questions: "Do you know this beauty?" and "What would you like to know about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ?" All the gospel sharing slows his search a bit, but then he's no truster in the arm of the flesh (although his own flesh arms are quite trustworthy). In time he concludes that you are not hamlet or village people and narrows his search to the greater Tulsa area. Along the way, he's picked up several new languages, saved some children from drowning, has been awarded the keys to several fine midwestern towns, and became the Land 'O The Red Man's favorite son. Weary and beleaguered, he finds you at last at the 2009 YSA Christmaspalooza and rescues you from an unjustifiably determined, mullet-sporting 40-year-old in a Members Only jacket. We're very close to the "happily ever after", but it's late, and I'm going to bed. Chin up! He's out there.
Love you, Derek
